The first step in staying relaxed while planning your wedding is to be realistic. Realize that like everything else in life things won't go exactly as planned. That is also the beauty of it, the unexpected can bring authenticity and joy. Having the right mindset will help you plan but move confidently into planning and enjoying your wedding.

Be clear on what your priorities are. Make a list of what is most important to you and your partner. See what the top 3 things are that you really care about. Your priorities list will help guide you as to where you want your money and energy to go. You should both agree on the top 3 so it might take some discussion and compromise but what better skills to have in going into your new life together!

Make a reasonable timeline. Write down your to do list into manageable steps, starting with most immediate. For each task set up a deadline to keep things flowing and timely. Procrastination leads to more stress so always focus on what you can control and then problem solve each item on your list.

There will be people in your life that want to help you plan your wedding, let them! Find tasks to give others that will take stress away from you. Those would be jobs that don't need your mark but still need to be done. If you have the budget you could consider hiring a wedding planner.

This might be the biggest party you ever organize so have fun but keep your stress under control so you can enjoy it. In addition to what I've mentioned taking care of yourself is a primary goal. Make sure you have time for self care by keeping balance in meeting your needs. Despite being busy continue to engage in activities you love and spend time with friends and partner and try build a time for meditation. Allowing time for your brain to be quiet will help reduce anxiety and it also increases creativity and mindfulness. Try to spend some time outside for this too helps keep our brain healthy by keeping cortisol, which is a stress hormone, low.

It's important during this time of wedding preparation to keep communication going. Make time for you and your partner to visualize the wedding together. Strive to find commonality in your plans and then to incorporate both of your individual desires into the celebration. This is a great opportunity to set the preface of compromise and collaboration into your partnership.
