The well-loved Holland Lake Lodge in Condon, Montana holds a special place in many people's hearts. Many engagements have taken place on the Holland Falls Trail, so it's understandable when many couples dream of having their wedding there. Due to many complications the beloved lodge still remains closed. But don't despair, just a few miles down the road is The River House Wedding & Event Venue just waiting to have your wedding, riverhousemontana.com.

Why the Swan Valley in Northwestern Montana is so magical might differ in personal reasons but what remains clear is the valley is majestic!

What's obvious to all who come to the Swan Valley in Condon, MT is the towering mountain peaks and striking beauty. Nestled between The Swan Mountains to the east and the Mission Mountains to the west there are many breathtaking views. The area has lush forests and is home to more than 3,000 lakes, many unnamed hiding up in the mountains.
The most prominent peaks in the Swan Valley, Montana, are Holland Peak and Swan Peak. Other significant peaks are Goat Mountain, Ptarmigan Benchmark, and Cardinal Peak. These peaks are located within the Swan Range, which borders the Bob Marshall Wilderness which is known for its gorgeous scenery and rugged terrain. Driving down Highway 83 gives one many beautiful views and photo opportunities.
The elevations on those mountain peaks are the following:
Swan Peak: The second highest peak, at 9,289 feet (2,831 m).
Goat Mountain: Another significant peak, with an elevation of 8,845 feet (2,696 m).
Ptarmigan Benchmark: Located at an elevation of 9,083 feet (2,768 m).
Cardinal Peak: At 8,582 feet (2,616 m), this peak is also notable.
Holland Peak: The highest peak in the Swan Range, reaching 9,356 feet (2,852 m).
As previously mentioned there are many lakes in the valley. Driving from Seeley, Montana notable lakes are Seeley Lake and Salmon Lake. Going into Condon there is Holland Lake and towards BigFork there is Swan Lake then the huge Flathead Lake. Some of these lakes allow motorized boats others are perfect for fishing, swimming and kayaking.
The Swan River is a beautiful and recreational river that meanders through the Swan Valley. As stated on Wikipedia:"The Swan originates at Gray Wolf Lake in the Mission Mountains, at 6,650 feet (2,030 m) above sea level.[6] Fed partly by melt from the Gray Wolf Glacier, the river descends through a short and steep canyon to Lindbergh Lake, at the base of the Mission Mountains. From there the river flows briefly east before turning north, passing Condon, flowing about 75 miles (121 km) to the northern end of the valley where it empties into Swan Lake. At the north end of the 10-mile (16 km) long lake, the river emerges into the Flathead Valley, where it turns abruptly west through a canyon, emptying into Flathead Lake at the town of Bigfork. Via Flathead Lake, it eventually drains to the Flathead River, a major tributary in the Columbia Riversystem."

The Swan Valley is situated between The Bob Marshall Wilderness Area and The Mission Wilderness Area. The valley is a significant corridor for much wildlife including Grizzly and Black Bears, Mountain Lions, Elk and Deer. It's been referred to as a complete ecosystem. The valley is often studied for its ecological significance. The Swan Valley is one of the few places in North America with a complete amount of native species in their natural habitats. There are numerous wetlands providing homes for a variety of species including migratory birds and fish. The valley has a large Grizzly Bear population which adds to the wildness of the area. The large amount of wild water in the area also contributes to the health and wealth of the ecosystem.
Consequently the Swan Valley in Northwestern Montana is loved by humans and many other species. Again it's no wonder that the beauty in the valley speaks of love; love for the natural world and love for the important people in your life. We chose our spot on the Swan River so we could open a wedding venue for couples, family and friends. In ceremony and celebration you can stand beneath the towering peaks and the rushing waters of the Swan River to witness two becoming one. In fact The River House has just that when Glacier Creek merges into the Swan River we visibly see the effect of two becoming one. When two people come together to join their love, talents and individuality you get a stronger force of life.
Whether it's metaphorical or literal the River House stands for the merging of lives.
We all will welcome the eventual opening of Holland Lake Lodge but you can have the privacy and beauty of the Swan Valley by having your wedding at The River House. When you have a multi-day wedding celebration, you can travel a few miles down the road to swim in Holland Lake and hike Holland Lake Falls.
