Because we are located between Missoula and Kalispell, we see couples from both cities coming out to Condon, MT for their wedding. For many the venue is usually the beginning of the wedding planning process, here are some primary considerations. " Join us on a journey to the unexpected—where love meets the wild!"   After the engagement and you both have celebrated your proposal, you should start researching venues. Many locations can book up quickly, especially during peak wedding seasons so you want to make it a priority. 1. Set a Date In considering which venues to tour, you need an approximate date. That information lets you know if a certain venue is even a possibility. The time of year also starts creating the vision for your wedding. So it's not just date, but dates. At the River House we only do two or three night packages. For our couples they desire an experience for themselves and their guests. Having at least one day before the wedding gives everyone the time to connect, decorate and have a rehearsal dinner or just relax. At The River House once you rent the venue you can have many celebrations there during that time. We have seen wedding showers done in our beautiful Montana renovated log buildings, it's convenient since all the important people are there. The venue is large enough if you didn't want a combined shower you could have 2 seperate ones! Couples often have their rehearsal dinner catered or they can have family set ups. Consider Your Guest List Have a rough estimate of how many guests you want. This will influence your choice of venue, as different locations have varying capacities. This also correlates to your budget and vision. For many venues there are overnight accommodations. The River House offers sleeping for up to 24 people. This again allows for a cohesive experience with your closest guests not having to leave the venue. As previously mentioned there are many lakes in the valley. Driving from Seeley, Montana notable lakes are Seeley Lake and Salmon Lake. Going into Condon there is Holland Lake and towards BigFork there is Swan Lake then the huge Flathead Lake. Some of these lakes allow motorized boats others are perfect for fishing, swimming and kayaking. The Swan River is a beautiful and recreational river that meanders through the Swan Valley. As stated on Wikipedia: "The Swan originates at Gray Wolf Lake in the Mission Mountains, at 6,650 feet (2,030 m) above sea level. [6]  Fed partly by melt from the  Gray Wolf Glacier , the river descends through a short and steep canyon to  Lindbergh Lake , at the base of the Mission Mountains. To make sure you're equipped to enjoy your wedding and time in Northwestern Montana we have compiled a list of what to bring. Swan River & Swan Mountains at outdoor wedding venue near Missoula & Kalispell, Montana Let's start with the wedding itself. Of course, start with all the wedding attire you want. Think of everything you're wearing on your wedding day and write it down. Having a bag specifically for your wedding day will help with organization. If you're flying, consider either shipping the items or having a carry-on to reduce any mishaps. Examine all the accessories that go into your day such as jewelry, makeup and hair decor. If your having someone help with your hair and makeup check to see with them what you should bring. Many venues have hair dryers and makeup mirrors for your use. The paths are often cleared and some are an easy walk towards the Mission Mountains. It's also good to bring water shoes for all the rivers and lakes we have in the area. The Swan River at The River House has great fishing holes and swimming holes. Because we are on the Swan River and Glacier Creek we take extra precaution when walking there. When in groups the noise will often deter an encounter. The other thing to mention is to make noise when walking alone and if camping do not take any food or drinks into a tent! Being aware of your natural surroundings so you can enjoy all that nature has to offer. Some people enjoy using hiking sticks so having a few for family and friends is a good idea. Be sure to grab your bathing suit so you go into our 12 person hot tub or go swimming in lakes or rivers.
